Easter Monday originated as part of the Christian liturgical calendar, commemorating the day after Easter Sunday when, according to Christian belief, Jesus Christ appeared to his disciples after his resurrection. In Namibia, the holiday was introduced by German and Finnish missionaries during the colonial period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
